40lb Garfield is the world's fattest cat

40lb Garfield is the world's fattest cat

Real-life Garfield lays claim to title of 'world's fattest cat'.
Living up to his cartoon namesake's notoriously gargantuan appetite, obese Garfield was brought into North Shore Animal League of America in Long Island, New York, after his owner passed away.
Tipping the scales at 40lb, staff have since put him on a low calorie diet, containing no dry food in the hope Garfield can lose around 2lbs a month.
Garfield is relatively healthy but finds it difficult to move because his weight is putting strain on his hips.
Now staff are encouraging Garfield to move with toys, a ball, and by picking him up and putting him down somewhere else, so he has to walk back to his original spot.

Teenager found finger piece in beef sandwich

When 14-year-old Ryan Hart exclaimed he found a piece of a finger in his Arby’s junior roast beef sandwich last week, Jamie Vail thought her son goofing around.
In his last bites, Ryan Hart said he tasted something like rubber. It was tough to chew, and he said he spit the piece of flesh from his mouth.
"I was like, ‘that gots to be a finger,’" he said Wednesday evening from his Blackman Township home.
"I was about to puke... It was just nasty."
The chunk of human flesh, which included the fingerprint, was around an inch long. An employee at the restaurant cut her finger on a meat slicer just before the teenager's order was sent out.

Steve Hall, environmental health director for the Jackson County Health Department, said the worker apparently left her station and colleagues continued completing orders before they knew what happened.
Ryan's mother Jamie Vail said "Somebody loses a finger, and you keep sending food out the window? I can't believe that." Vail added that her son was "traumatized."
He was prescribed medication and has had trouble eating or sleeping following the incident, she said. Arby's vice president John Gray said in a statement that it was, "deeply concerned and apologetic to the guest involved in this unfortunate incident." The restaurant was sanitized following the discovery.

Tree frog found in supermarket asparagus

Tree frog found in supermarket asparagus
A couple had a surprise when they found a tree frog nestling in some asparagus tips they bought in a supermarket.
Ann and Jim MacFarlane, from Southampton, made the discovery after buying the Peruvian vegetables at a supermarket in Portsmouth. But the couple did not have far to turn to find a new home for the frog as their daughter Jenna works as an aquarist specialising in tropical frogs.
Now Miss MacFarlane has taken the frog, who she named Maurice, to be looked after at the Blue Reef Aquarium in Southsea where she works.

Weird! Real Life Flea Circus!

Weird! Real Life Flea Circus
Filmed in Paris in 1949, this genuine flea circus sees some very big fleas pulling various miniature vehicles across a table. They are harnessed by a thin wire. Rather disgusting! However, until about 1930, performing fleas were in fact a main carnival attraction.
